2014 Scholarship Recipients

The Mission of the Madden Women's Association is to provide financial support for continuing education through annual scholarship awards to graduating African-American female high school and college students and to provide financial and active support for the Greater Dayton Youth Golf Academy.



Kaja Burke-Williams

Kaja is a graduate of The Miami Valley Schools and earned a 3.9 GPA. She will major in Musical Theatre. Kaja has received several honors and recognitions such as the National Society for HS Scholars, Junior Leadership of Dayton and Outstanding Delegate Honors for Model United Nations Competitions. She has participated in numerous musicals and theatre productions along with leadership training programs.

Logan M. Cobbs

Logan is a graduate of Chaminade-Julienne High School and earned a 3.66 GPA. She will major in International Business. She was a student philanthropist, cheerleader and partnered with many social and non-profit organizations in the community. Her honors include American Studies Excellence Award and the George Early Excellence in Community Service Award.

Dominique N. Johnson

Dominique is a graduate of Stivers School for the Arts and earned a 3.83 GPA. She will major in Biology and Theatre. Dominique's awards and recognitions include Distinguished Young Women of Ohio Class of 2014; NAACP Miley O. Williamson Scholar and Excellence in Dance Award. She was on the Varsity Women's Tennis team and National Honor Society and NAACP Act-So Program.

Alycia M. Lewis

Alycia is a graduate of Kettering Fairmont High School and earned a 3.97 GPA. She will major in Chemistry and would like to take pre-med courses and go into the medical field. Alycia has won an award every year for maintaining a 3.8 GPA or higher. She was a member of the Senior Class Council, the Spanish Honor Society and a basketball cheerleader. She enjoys golfing with her Dad.

Ashanti J. McCormick

Ashanti is a graduate of Walter E. Stebbins High School and earned a 3.87 GPA. She will major in Business and would like to become the Chief Legal Officer for a major corporation. Some of Ashanti's awards or recognitions include honor roll for four years; Varsity MVP in Volleyball; Society of Academic Excellence for four years and CBC Sportsmanship Award in Volleyball.
