Marva Cosby leads by volunteering

There’s an old saying that what does not kill you makes you stronger. For Marva Cosby, whose only son and husband both survived separate, life-threatening motor accidents, nothing could be more true.

Originally from Muncie, Ind., Cosby is the model of strength and has used her emotional intelligence over the years to fuel a successful career, formerly as the vice president of human resources for Kodak and today as a certified professional coach.

She also is a Dayton Foundation fund holder and serves on the Foundation’s Governing Board, as well as the boards for Antioch University Midwest and Goodwill Easter Seals of the Miami Valley, the board of advisors for Millers Textile Services and Microtek/American Thermal Instruments, and was recognized as a YWCA Dayton 2015 Woman of Influence and a Dayton Daily News 2012 Ten Top Women honoree. Miami Valley Senior Womens Golf Association

It’s also time to sign up for the Miami Valley Senior Women Golf Association (MVSWGA).  The  membership fee is $15.  You have to be at least 55 years old.  The members are classified as a regular member or a substitute.

The regular member pays the $15 when they register.  The substitute member pays an extra $5 for the tournament they participate in.  Anyone that would like to be a new regular I would need your $15 by February 8th.  If you would like to be a sub, let me also know that.

This association has 3 handicapped scrambles each summer.  The teams are made up by the host club.  The team consist of members from the other clubs.

The tournaments this year will be held at Madden Golf Course, Weatherwax Golf Course and Yankee Trace Golf course.  We hosted this tournament in 2013. We did a great job!!  I was told ours was one of the best ones they had had.  This was the first time a lot of the ladies played at Madden.

It’s time for us to host it again.  Our tournament will be Friday, June 3rd, the day before our 30th Annual Scholarship Tournament, June 4th.   I will need volunteers.  Remember this is a MWA event and we want it to be as nice as before.  If you want to volunteer let me know ASAP.

If you need more information call me, 276-4254, or email me.  Hang in there; we'll be back on the course before you know it!!

Thanks,

Joyce Brown,

MWA Key Lady,

MVSWGA
